So Long, Farewell. Auf Wiedersehen. Adieu

The big, bad, entity that is the American way of doing things has graciously informed me that I am expendable here at the beloved Banner. I'm certain that will delight some, and hopefully concern others. I'm reminded of "Old Blue Eyes" when he he said. "If I can make it there, I'll make it anywhere," in the most contradictory sense of the lyric...If a feller can't contribute to a small-town daily, I'm guessin' I overestimated my journalistic potential. That being said, and my heavy tendencies toward martyrdom aside, I'll put the score at Crushing Dose of Humility 1, Mister B 0. I attempted to interject in much of what I wrote at least a taste of the alternative, something sorely lacking in this or any other small community. But alas, the mundane has a foot-hold on the populace of the typical American Midwesterner, and I'm certainly not going to change that in my lifetime. If I contributed anything to this publication in my short time here, I'd hope it was a sense of humor for the absurd and a reminder that people are redemptive in nature; that the true nature of the heart overrides anything petty or bitter in human relationships. In parting brothers and sisters, don't be afraid to disagree with the masses, don't be afraid to tell people you love them, and never compromise who you are. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have an appointment with Britney to get dog collar tattoos on our upper thighs. Peace be with you friends, Goodbye Keith Bodnarick Comments Showing most recent comments first [Show in chronological order instead] |

Ah Mr. B.
Your blogs were the only ones worth my time reading. Leave it to Putnam County to get rid of someone who is as insightful and witty as yourself. I guess they just couldn't handle you putting down their hero, Brittany Spears, the perfect spokesperson for the majority of Putnam County. Oh well, their loss.
I just noticed the editor's name and blogs have been removed, yet your name, Keith, is still listed under journalists. Does this mean your release was the straw that broke the camel's back and there is a chance you will continue to write and we will have a small town newspaper again? Congratulations to Randy List for taking his paper back, perhaps it will recenter where it will have an unbiased view of the news, as it should, but has not since Eric Bernsee left....
P.S. Does this mean we can write Speak Outs again and they will get printed......?
The new and not so improved blogosphere around here is getting really full of itself.
Have you found a new spot to post your thoughts for those of us who found your style interesting?
Keith, I shall miss your columns and blogs. From one English teacher to another, your use of wordplay was a rarity in the BG, much less in a hoosier newspaper. Although I doubt the powers that be will see the light, keep your chin up. You are a truly gifted journalist. --Suzanne Funk
Way to go, Banner-Graphic. Keith finally said what needed to be said in a small town. Maybe he should try the New York Times, or even Fox News. They are fair and balanced. This is really sad. Peace, Keith.
I'll miss your articles, even though I always needed a dictionary present to read them. Good luck to you, If I don't see you in the future, I'll see you in the pasture.
Mr.B, it is I, Hap(palooza). This Molon fellow and I have been discussing the idea of man creating his own essence. I believe you have a tact for such truthfulness.
If it had not been for the untruthfulness of the world, I'm sure truthful beliefs would not seem so disruptive to the common man. I'm guessing there are plenty of united states out there that are just yearning to be awakened. Plenty of "suckas" to raise "roofs" off of; to quote the old rabbi. May he rest in peace. And may peace be with you as well.
And also with you.
Mr. B, you will be missed. I have enjoyed reading your online blogs and stories. You have a style that is your own and it challenges people to think. It is obvious that you have talent and maybe those at the banner are threatened by that....just a thought!
WHAT!!!???? Your town articles were fine, just fine. Peace be with you.
