Awesomeness and my attempt at being
Posted Wednesday, May 7, at 12:50 PM
I recently tried "saggin'" to see what all the rage was about amoungst the kiddies these days. First, I bought some jeans that were only two sizes too big and decided I wasn't getting the desired effect, so I went up to a size 47 (I generally wear 30). The size 47 were spacious and left room for all my belongings which was nice, but walking was a bit of a task. 47/30's are more square than most pants so tapered legs are a must (for any of you readers who wish to try this). After a day of saggin' in jeans, I decided to try basketball shorts.

The first thing apparently one must know is that basketball shorts have changed since the late 1970's. Not knowing this, I went to the thrift shop and bought some Pistol Pete's. Even when I had this down near my knees, the bottoms of them barely reached my shin. Plus the tight elastic band cut off all blood flow to my lower extremities causing a great amount of scrapes and flatulent rages when the numbness set in.

It wasn't until I passed a group of skaters that I was introduced to the notion that modern basketball pants can be pulled up to your scapula and still rest calmly on the shins.

By this time I was jaded with basketball shorts so I watched 8-mile and saw they had on sweatpants.

"Of course," I exclaimed in a loud voice scaring the dog who promptly ran into the floor fan. "Why didn't I think of those warm, elastic pantaloons of goodness before?"

Buying sweat pants was the best thing ever. I didn't have to worry about having the length of the legs properly resting on my shins because thanks to Kris-Kross and LL Cool J, we all know that we can "tab" them. Or was tabbing for stonewashed, pleated jeans? At any rate, the elastic caused no issue with flatulence, other than a slight whistling sound. And the elastic around the legs were heaven for the aforementioned reasons.

Now I know what it feels like to be cool. But eventually I needed to return from my foray into awesomeness to return to the mild hum-drum life I lead on a daily basis as Clark Kent with an identity complex.

Blog purpose and etiquette
Posted Wednesday, April 30, at 9:33 AM

Some blog readers on this site appear to have the notion that blogs are meant for news and further reporting in journalistic blindness...the purpose of a blog is to have an opinion, show personality, throw grammar and spelling "rules" into a breezy spring morning and comment on irony that can't be done in the report itself due to our need to remain as impartial as humanly possible (which is often hard given that we are human so we tend to take some side no matter the circumstance).....

I got a new phone finally. True Story. I bought a Blackberry Pearl 8130 but that forced me to switch from Cingular to Verizon which I'm slightly worried about. Most of my friends are on Cingular so I'm hoping that I don't go over on my minutes. The phone is of the "smart phone" genus. ...

Fax Machines Beware
Posted Wednesday, April 2, at 8:41 AM

In the absence of the Flying Ninja Horses due to public outcry of "witch" following a recent article, office machines are reporting a record high crime rate. Fax machines, printers and Coke machines are scrambling for cover from disgruntled office workers...

Flying Ninja Horses seen as a threat to criminals
Posted Wednesday, March 26, at 9:24 AM

Flying Ninja Horses have become a serious issue of late. Many crimes have been averted due to such beasts -- and that's what they are, beasts. One alleged criminal said that during his attempt to commit a felony, he was surrounded in a dark alley by a motley bunch. After waving his gun and firing a few clips into the air as warning shots, he reported he lost all hope for success in his endeavor...

Good Day Sunshine

Sometimes we need something that can make us smile when we forget how to. For me, there are a few things, but one I used to use and have just rediscovered is a flash movie thing about a hippo with noodles on his back. Lately, I've visited that particular site a few times and will offer up the link when I finish being lazy and simply writing. ...

How Green is Greencastle Supplemental
Posted Wednesday, March 5, at 7:31 AM

The environmental story I wrote is something that is very dear to me. I interned with the Sierra Club of Ohio briefly and when I heard Mayor Murray speak at the Rotary Club meeting last Thursday about how Greencastle was using LED stoplights, I came up with the idea for the How Green is Greencastle story. ...

Young Voters: A Story Turned Blog
Posted Thursday, February 28, at 8:52 AM

New Voters Every four years one of the hot debates is focused onto the youth of the nation. When it comes time to vote, it seems the new crop of 18 year olds is suddenly thrust into the media. Some believe they are the voice of the future, others that they are apathetic about their newly given right -- the right to vote...

The New Kid 2

It was quite a shock to come in Tuesday morning and find out that my first story for the Banner Graphic made the front page. But as I said yesterday, I will talk a bit about myself (it is after all, one of my favorite topics). I am 25 and recently graduated from Otterbein College in Westerville, OH. ...
