Boy, I'm not as young as I used to be. We've spent the day running from place to place, and I am whooped.

We've been all over the place today. We saw the Lincoln Boyhood Memorial and Living Historical Farm, which we all thought was very cool. As I walked the trail between the visitor's center and the replica of the cabin President Lincoln grew up in, I couldn't help but be amazed that I was walking on the same ground such a major historical figure had walked upon as a child.

We made it into the cabin just as the sky opened up and it started to pour. A nice young woman dressed in period garb showed my 7-year-old son Will how to card wool, and he sat and did that while we waited out the rain.

After that, we went to see the Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Plaza and Lincoln Amphitheatre. They're getting ready there for the world premiere of the original play "Lincoln," which opens June 12. They've just redone the theater, and boy, is it impressive. As a thespian, I was awed by the venue. It looks awesome.

We got to watch a bit of the rehearsal, and they invited us back to see the show. It runs through Aug. 15, so hopefully we'll be able to make it. I love the theater and my husband is a history buff, so I think we'd both dig it.

After that, we checked into our RV at Lake Rudolph Campground & RV Resort in Santa Claus. This RV is something else. It's nicer than some apartments in which I've lived. Will has four bunks to choose from and can't decide which one he wants to sleep in.

Then we went down the road and had pizza and played miniature golf at Frosty's Fun Center. Will and I didn't really keep score, but my husband Andy did. He had to keep track of his average, you know. When I first told him I didn't care whether or not we kept score, he said, "But how will we know for sure if I beat you?"

Even without writing it down, I can categorically say he beat me.

After dinner, we went to Rockport and got a private tour of the Lincoln Pioneer Village. They have a museum much like the Putnam County Museum ... all the items on display are donated, and volunteers run the place.

Behind the museum are 12 replicas of pre-civil war structures ... homes, a school, a store, an inn, a church and others. Will was spellbound. They are all decked out with period furniture and accessories. You really feel like you're stepping back in time.

It's nearly 10 p.m. now (9 p.m. here since we're on Central Time, but to us it's nearly 10 p.m.), and we're back at the RV. Will's eating the leftover pizza, Andy's reading a magazine and I'm thinking about hitting the shower and watching my soaps on cbs.com.

Tomorrow we're going to a few of the touristy places around Santa Claus and then to Holiday World.

I'll be a tired, sunburned mess by this time tomorrow.
