It was a hideous site to behold.
Overnight birds had performed an aerial assault on my car. They didn't miss an inch! From the hood to the trunk and even both side mirrors and windows had been bombed. "Whoa," I thought when I saw what had happened. "What did I do to tick the birds off?" However, the scarier site was inside the car. I had taken a quick glance around and could only roll my eyes at such a mess. Despite the purchase of a drink holder, change was glued together from a Mt. Dew disaster a day earlier. The floorboards were littered with leaf particles and small rocks and the little trashcan in the backseat was overflowing. There were even a couple of coats and an umbrella piled in the passenger seat with who knows what under them. "Oh, it is time to clean this crappy garbage mobile," I thought to myself. It took several hours, oceans of soapy water and half a garbage bag to make my car sparkle like nearly new again. "If I spot bird bombs on my car tomorrow, war is on with those creatures," I told my mom after hand-washing the outside with nearly freezing water from the garden hose. So far, all has been peaceful. My car has remained unsoiled. I have my fingers crossed the birds have retreated for a while. And as for the inside, I have managed to keep it clear of junk and Mt. Dew.
16? Really? It is official. I am old. This realization hit me when I received a phone call from my dad, who told me there was a birthday party planned for my youngest sister. "It's her 16th birthday, you know," he said. "Wow!" I exclaimed. "She is already in driver's education," he continued...
Unfortunate new meaning for Big Mac attack Have you ever thought if you log one more hour on the clock, you might fall over dead? There have been weeks I felt worked to death. However, the statement, "worked to death" has taken on a new meaning. Read the following article from APP.com: A McDonald's store manager in Japan died of a brain hemorrhage after "being worked to death," labor officials in Japan said...
The face of a pumpkin It is said a picture is worth a 1,000 words, so I will save all of us time and just post the picture. This is my first pumpkin to carve -- EVER! It turned out perfect, but not because of my talent. I had help from a pumpkin-carving expert. Enjoy my smiling pumpkin because it won't last long. Big, my crazy cat, will eventually eat it or ruin it...
The next blog.... Every week my next blog taunts me for a topic. It's almost as bad as the blinking cursor mocking me to think of something brilliant to write. Although, there are rare occasions when inspiration hits and I think, "That would make a great blog!" For instance, I thought my defrosting debacle would make a great blog topic. However, it took me a while to find the humor in such a simple task that turned into a catastrophe...
Halloween happenings from me to you Of all the places to become haunted, the haunted house is the most popular in folklore, dating back several thousand years. According to legend, when a person dies their spirit leaves this world and moves on to the next world. However, sometimes their ghost will remain and haunt the area of its death...
The Best Things in Life ... The best things in life are free. I recently learned this old adage is true. Not long ago, I was sitting in the garage talking with my parents. My stepdad was building a bookcase for his mother, while my mother and I were just invading his "man space."...
Back in style A week ago my cell phone suddenly quit working. I couldn't receive or make calls because I could no longer hear the other person and they couldn't hear me. I was left with only texting as a way of communication. For one week, I was "excommunicated" from the world. There is only so much you can text without it becoming confusing or annoying. After shopping for a new phone with no luck, I decided to order it online. I searched carefully for the perfect phone...
A small miracle, a 'Big' miracle Miracles don't happen every day. But when one comes along, you have to genuinely smile. When two happen, you have to tell someone. No matter how big or small a miracle, you must share. My miracles may seem small to some or not even like a miracle at all to others. To me, a miracle is a miracle...
Honked Off In life, there are some things too funny not to share. A few weeks ago my mother drove my sister's car in town. While cruising down the street, she was not prepared for what was about to happen. HONK! HONK! "What in the world," my mother thought at sound of the horn randomly honking...
