Living on Your Own: PricelessPosted Thursday, August 6, 2009, at 12:50 PM
Rent: $500.
Groceries: $150. Living on your own: Priceless. Visa may offer to take you wherever you want to go, but living on your own offers more. There is no price on having your own space, especially when you are single. But with your own space comes your own responsibilities. There are the responsibilities otherwise known as chores. As a single person, you are the only one to take out the trash, wash the dishes, wash clothes and other cleaning jobs -- the toilet too. Once the chores are accomplished, there is grocery shopping and cooking your own meals. Other types of responsibilities include paying bills. This is when most young adults become acquainted with a budget. It is also when young adults wish they could live at home forever. To some, the fine art of living on a budget is no big deal. Others have to work at it a little. My experience has taught me a good budget is a realistic budget. Don't pretend as if you can spend $10 on groceries for one week and not go hungry. A budget should help separate needs from wants and hopefully save some money. No matter what type of budget you live on, it is worth it to hang out with your friends in your very own apartment.
