A small miracle, a 'Big' miracle

Miracles don't happen every day. But when one comes along, you have to genuinely smile. When two happen, you have to tell someone. No matter how big or small a miracle, you must share.
My miracles may seem small to some or not even like a miracle at all to others. To me, a miracle is a miracle. As a "house warming" gift, my parents bought me an outside trash can. It sits perfectly on my deck just outside my front door. It isn't fancy, but it was free -- the best of anything. After a recent overnight thunderstorm, the lid to my trashcan miraculously disappeared. I searched and searched. It was nowhere in sight. "Great! I'm going to have to buy a whole new trashcan for a measly lid," I told my mother. "The one I have doesn't even stink yet," I continued to complain. In hopes the lid would spontaneously reappear, I held out on buying another trash container for only a lid. Just as I was starting to give up on seeing the lid ever again, the miracle happened. My lid had resurfaced from some unknown place. "Yeah," I thought happily, when I saw it. "It's a small miracle." Later that same day, I totally cleaned Big's "restroom." I completely emptied the old litter out, vacuumed the rug under it and filled the box with all new litter. Usually after a fresh scooping, he barely waits for me to walk away before digging right in. I figured he would gallop and jump into a completely fresh box. This time he waited until nearly bedtime (six or seven hours later) before dumping in his clean "toilet." "Wow," I thought. "If the return of the lid to my trashcan was a small miracle, that's a 'Big' miracle." |
