Back in stylePosted Monday, September 14, 2009, at 9:20 PM
A week ago my cell phone suddenly quit working. I couldn't receive or make calls because I could no longer hear the other person and they couldn't hear me. I was left with only texting as a way of communication.
For one week, I was "excommunicated" from the world. There is only so much you can text without it becoming confusing or annoying. After shopping for a new phone with no luck, I decided to order it online. I searched carefully for the perfect phone I waited patiently for it to be delivered in the mail. Finally, the day arrived. It was here. I opened the box like a little girl on Christmas morning and stared at my new, shiny phone. "It looks complicated," I thought. I plugged it in, charged it up and turned it on. "Wow," I exclaimed out loud to no one. "I'm back in style!" I began feverishly trying to figure out all the fascinating features on my new device -- even pulling out the manual. I can now check the weather and my e-mail; find phone numbers on Yellow Pages; and listen to hours of downloaded music through headphones. Additionally, I will never get lost again because it has a GPS navigation application. Hours later, I realized I didn't purchase a new phone. I bought a mini computer that makes calls. I have officially entered the 21st Century. "I could rule the world from this contraption," I later told my friends.
