Have you ever thought if you log one more hour on the clock, you might fall over dead? There have been weeks I felt worked to death.
However, the statement, "worked to death" has taken on a new meaning. Read the following article from APP.com: A McDonald's store manager in Japan died of a brain hemorrhage after "being worked to death," labor officials in Japan said. The 41-year-old woman, who was not named, had worked more than 80 hours of overtime per month for six months before she collapsed during a McDonald's training program in Yokohoma. She died three days later in the hospital. The Kanagawa Labor Bureau determined the women's death in October 2007 was work related and her dependent family members are eligible to receive a public pension. McDonald's declined to comment on the case, saying authorities had not contacted the company. Japan's labor laws do not oblige companies to pay overtime to workers in managerial posts. Insensitive observation: It's not only the potatoes that are fried at McDonald's. Comments Showing comments in chronological order [Show most recent comments first] |
