I say sweep
I said it in the beginning, and after Tuesday's win over Minnesota, I will say it again -- Purdue is going to sweep the Big Ten. Yes, I said it. I honestly believe the Boilermakers will sweep the Big Ten Conference this season. Honestly, what team in the Big Ten compares to Purdue? Not Michigan, that's for sure. They lost to IU for crying out loud. The team that was picked to finish second from last in the conference, and the Wolverines, who by the way were picked to be a major powerhouse this year, lost to them in their Big Ten opener. And for those of you out there saying that Ohio State is capable of beating Purdue, think again. They have already stumbled in the conference against the Wolverines. So, at least IU can say that they are better than two teams this year. True, Michigan State and Wisconsin are strong teams in the Big Ten. But I don't see them as a threat. Not with the momentum the Boilermakers have this season. I honestly think it would take a major tragedy to derail the Boilermakers this season. They are now 14-0, which ties their best start ever in program history. Every player on the team is contributing nicely and the team isn't relying solely on one or two players to carry them like they did last year. That was the team's problem last year, when Robbie Hummel got hurt; they didn't have anyone to really rely on after he was injured. A lot of people thought that when Purdue played one of the other top 10 teams, like Virginia, they would fold under the pressure and go back to the Purdue of old that can't hang with the big dog's. Think Again. So far Purdue has answered every challenge that has been thrown at them and have conquered each one. So I am sure that a lot of you that read this, as I am sure that many of you are anti-Purdue and Hoosier loving loons, you are going to call me insane and say that I don't know what I am talking about and that is OK. But when it's all said and done, I will try not to tell all of you -- I told you so.
Not what I planned on Every year I always ask myself, 'What am I going to do on Christmas this year?' Usually, I'm opening presents with my nieces and nephews and trying to calm my nerves from them running around screaming and hitting each other with their new toys. Well not this year. ...
This is getting ridiculous I know that I have touched this subject once before last spring during the tournament, but I think it needs to be touched on again. So far, every basketball game I have watched this season, the refs, or as some of us in the sports writing industry like to call them zebras, are doing a horrible job. Now, I am all for letting the kids play ball and not calling the little stupid things like a simple touch or hand check, but what they are doing this year is going to get someone hurt...
Not a good idea So as I was skimming through ESPN's website, I saw Danica Patrick is starting to make the switch to NASCAR and I sat back and asked myself "Why would she want to do that"? Why would she want to leave a race league that is doing so well in and move to one that has proven to be difficult for open wheel drivers to be successful in. ...
The Stage is set What is being billed as the biggest football game of the year, even bigger than Super Bowl, will finally be played this Saturday in Georgia. That's right the SEC championship between the Florida Gators and my beloved Crimson Tide. In all actuality, you could consider Saturday's game the national championship game because who ever wins that game is going to crush Texas. ...
It's no joking matter I know usually when I write this blog I try to find someone or something that has done something ridiculous to rip on or joke about it -- not this week. The subject of my blog this week is suicide and it is nothing to joke about. Five years ago, I lost my brother-in-law to suicide and I have lost some very close friends to suicide. It is something that affects everyone, everywhere, no matter who you are. It can affect you...
Time to switch gears With only two regular season games left in college football, well at least for my team, Alabama, I think its time for me to switch over to basketball mode. Now I'm not giving up on my Crimson Tide. We will win this week and we will destroy Auburn next week. Then on Dec. 5 we will march into the Georgia Dome and crush Florida. Ending Tim Tebow and Urban Meyers chance of a third title in four years, and avenge our loss to them last year. Then we will play Texas for the title...
One shot, one photo............? I have always said that it is not the camera that makes the photographer, but literally the skill and talent that the photographer posses. Last Friday I found myself in the position to back up those words with results, as I had to shoot the North Putnam-Monrovia game with the Banner Graphic's little old Cannon Rebel instead of my high-end Nikon. It wasn't by choice, that much I assure you, but I took the challenge without hesitation and the end result was the same...
It's official I hate Urban Meyer, Florida's head football coach, after he let one of his players get away with the absolute lowest move that can be done to a person. That's right, I am talking about Brandon Spikes' eye gouging effort. Now before any of you Florida fans say "Well, it was an accident," he got caught on tape doing it. ...
The saga continues The saga with my car continues. I have to officially drop a large sum of money on two parts that have become enigmas in the used parts world. The harmonic balancer went out and took out a few other crucial parts. To my dismay, no one seems to have a good one in stock in a salvage yard or seem to carry the right one...
