Time to dust off the cameras

Posted Sunday, March 22, 2009, at 11:22 PM

To quote one of the greatest super heroes of all time, that would be Captain America, "Shutterbugs Assemble".

Ok, so I changed the quote a little to fit this blog, but for all you comic book geeks and freaks out there you know which quote I am talking about.

As Captain America calls upon the Avengers in the comics, I am calling upon all the photographers in the area to get out your cameras and get those shutters clicking.

This is the prime time for photographers to be out taking photos. The weather is perfect. It's not too cold or too hot -- it is perfect. One of my favorite pastimes is taking photos out at parks or on nature trails. Photographing sports and people are fun, don't get me wrong I love my job and the photos I get to take, but when you are out taking photos of something in its natural habitat, the feeling is incredible when you capture that perfect shot.

So here I am calling upon all the photographers in the area to go out and photograph the community in all natural beauty and see if you can capture that perfect moment.

And for the people reading this blog thinking to themselves that they don't have a good enough camera to answer to this call. Think again. The difference between and good photographer and bad one isn't the camera that he or she is using, it's the number of photos they take and how much time they put into the practice.

To put it simply, the more photos that you take, the better you will become. I have seen some great photos come from a simple point and shoot cameras and I have seen some pretty horrible photos come from some expensive cameras. So it's not the camera that makes a good photograph, it's the photographer.

So go out there get those shutters clicking and start capturing those perfect moments of life and if you feel like sharing your work, send them to me at dshelton@bannergraphic.com and I will take a look at your photos, because I love look at other photographers work and see what other people see through the lens of a camera.

Well until next time.

P.S. for those who are waiting for a horror novel review, don't worry I haven't forgotten about you. I will be reading a one here in the near by future and reviewing it shortly after.

What are you going to do with the pictures? Make a page within the Banner's website for all to see or print a few in the paper? Just curious.
