What year is it again?

Since my game got cancelled due to the rain storms that the county has been having, I had to find something to do to pass my time here in the office of the Banner Graphic. So I jumped on my computer and started to surf around to see what was going on in the world since the last few weeks the only thing I have know is balls, strikes and the occasional putt. But after what I read, I'm ok with that.

On the Web, I'm not going to mention the website due to the fact I think I might get in trouble for it, there was story about a man who died from a sword fight in Indy.

Yes, I did just say sword fight. I know you were probably thinking that I was going to say that he was shot or stabbed in a robbery. No he died from the wounds that he sustained while sword fighting, and here is the weird, yet funny, part with a relative of his.

Now I know some of my relatives and I don't get along and we have exchanged some words, but we have never tried to kill each other, with swords for that matter.

The report said that the argument escalated into a sword fight. My question is how did they get the swords? Did they know that the argument was going to get that serious, so they brought their swords with them? Or was it one of those situations where they started to brawl and then grabbed the swords off the wall and started to duel like you see in a James Bond movie?

I mean seriously people. Who fights with swords in today's age? I thought we graduated from swords and moved on to guns. I know times are tough right now, but I didn't think we have fell back into the Dark Ages where if you have a disagreement with someone you go out to the courtyard and duel to the death. Really its 2009,'ve not 1609.

The other part that stunned me, and made me laugh a little because of the stupidity of the act, that the sister-in-law of the man who just died, was fatally stabbed when she tried break up the fight. I don't know about any of you out there, but if I see two people sword fighting I'm pretty sure that I am not going to get in the middle of it. I'm not a rocket scientist, but I think that would be the smart thing to do. Right next to calling police, although I'm sure they are going to ask me what drugs that I am on when I tell them that two people are sword fighting.

Then it turns out that the person who is responsible for killing these two people was the sister-in-law's grandson.

So the lesson learned from this situation is if you are going to argue with a relative, don't do it where there are swords within reach. And second, if you are the one trying to stop the fight, don't do it when they have begun fighting with swords.

Swords kind of make sense right now. Have you priced or even tried to find ammo lately?
