I hate Urban Meyer, Florida's head football coach, after he let one of his players get away with the absolute lowest move that can be done to a person. That's right, I am talking about Brandon Spikes' eye gouging effort. Now before any of you Florida fans say "Well, it was an accident," he got caught on tape doing it. That move is lower than hitting someone below the belt. I mean eye gouging isn't even allowed in MMA where almost anything goes. And what does Meyer do? Suspends his player for the first half of the Vanderbilt game this week. You know what that tells me? It tells me that Meyer wouldn't have done anything if his player didn't get caught on tape. Spikes shouldn't be suspended for one half of a game, he should be suspended for the rest of the season. At least when Oregon suspended their running back they kept him out for almost half a season. And all he did was jack someone in the face on national TV. When you eye gouge someone, you are trying to rip that person's eye out -- hence it is illegal in every sanctioned sporting event. I mean come on -- you can't even eye gouge someone in a street fight these days with out getting beat down for it being such a low-down, dirty move. The NCAA and the SEC should step in and increase the suspension to something more realistic and fitting for the crime. I just think the coach is so worried about trying to be perfect and winning a BCS championship that he is willing to sacrifice such things as class and dignity to let a star player continue to play after showing what kind of person he is.

P.S. for those who are wondering, I'm a Alabama fan.

OK, So who is it? Tennessee? Georgia? Florida State? cause I know that you must be a fan of one those loser teams and saying what you can to hurt UF's image and what sport didnt you play because I already know that you must have not ever stepped onto a football field. or you would know that it happens esp in one of the nations most intence rivalry games. Even Ealey said he thought that he shouldnt be suspended. What more do you want. Quit haten and recognize that Myers has done one of the best jobs in college FB history. I would recognize it if your team coach could do what Myers has done..

Ah, UFman, you came through. Here, I didn't think in Indiana we could get an irrational take on this, but I was wrong. I always love the "it has happened in other games so it's not wrong" defense. Based at least on that play alone, we can deduce that Spikes is a dirty, low class, cheap player. He is way too talented to resort to that, yet he does. And Dan--though he is biased as an Alabama fan--is right on this one. Meyer's half-hearted, fake suspension for one half against a team he is almost guaranteed to beat by 4 touchdowns is no punishment at all. For your information, I have no dog in this fight. I am not a Florida fan, or Bama, or a fan of an SEC team or any team in national title contention. So I have no bone to pick with Meyer, other than he left me incredibly unimpressed with the way he handled this situation. I agree completely with Dan that I hope the NCAA steps in and provides a real punishment.

Hey UFman, please answer 1 question. If this happens to Tebow, would you be upset and believe the same punishment would be ok.

I doubt it.
