Last week, my senior class was given the privilege of going on a trip to Chicago. It was a wonderful treat, thanks to the administration, and also a wonderful little break from school.

When our bus arrived in Chicago at around 9 in the morning, we started our day right away. We visited the John Hancock Observatory, where we went up 94 stories in less than 40 seconds in the fastest elevator in North America. On the 94th floor of the building, there is a great 360 degree view of the city.

Next, we went to eat at a pizza restaurant called Gino's East. The place was filled with writing on the walls, chairs, and tables. There is not a blank space in sight, but when we finally found a clear spot on one of the walls, we added "SPHS Seniors 2010" to the collection of writings.

Then came my favorite part of the day, the Segway Tour. We got to see the beautiful sights of the North side of Chicago while riding on Segways, which was very fun. Thirty people riding on Segways in a single file line probably looked a little strange, but it was definitely worth all the stares.

The day winded down with an hour of shopping along The Magnificent Mile, where we could only dream of buying designer clothes, and then with a visit to the famous Navy Pier and dinner at Bubba Gump's.

I loved everything about the city, and there are so many things to see and do. If you've never been to Chicago, I suggest that you give it a visit.

My wife and I ate at Gino's during our first (and so far only) trip to Chicago. It was a great place and a great trip. Can't wait to go back. From a former South Putnam teacher, I'm happy this class had this opportunity and that you all had a good time.
