Tis the season...stillPosted Wednesday, January 20, 2010, at 8:42 AM
Hello, My name is John York and my Christmas Tree is still up. There I said it and if admitting it is the first step to making it better then maybe I will take it down soon.....but I doubt it. First of all let me explain why it is still up and the reasons are two fold: First of all, I am kind of lazy when it comes to taking it down. I am not altogether lazy although I probably procrastinate a little more then next person. I enjoy anything in life that makes it a little easier. I am a huge fan of the remote control. I love a good dishwasher although I do not have one unless you count the 4 boys. But even then they are as inaccurate at getting them really clean as NBC is at placing Jay Leno someplace where anyone actually cares! I also thought the Clapper was a great idea but I do not own one. The closest I have is the Indianapolis Colts touch lamp I have beside my chair. By the way, that touch lamp is the closest thing I have seen to real life magic! I consider myself a pretty smart guy but I have no Idea how that thing works! All I know is if I touch it turns off and I think that is pretty freaking cool! Anyway, I am kind of lazy about taking the tree down. Second, and this is the really cool part, is that the tree is an all Indianapolis Colts tree. From the star to the ribbon to all of the ornaments it is totally Colts themed and I love it! I thought about taking it down but they were still undefeated at the time so I thought that it kind of went along with the season. The Playoff season that is. After they lost I thought about taking it down again but they were in the Playoffs and I figured at that point that I might as well leave it up until the run was over. I mean why mess with a streak. I didn't want to be the reason they lost and that tree might just be the added bit of support they need to bring another Super Bowl home to Indiana. Beside Matthew, my 15 year old, and I have enjoyed seeing the funny looks it gets. We also like to say, "Yeah, that's right" when people comment that we still have it up. Its also ok with my 7 year old who thinks that blue is the most awesome color ever! So for now the tree stays. I believe the Colts have a good chance to be back in the Super Bowl and when they get there I will have the tree on and shining in all its glory! I will also have the lights outside on cause they are still up too and they are Blue and White just like the tree. Do not ever let it be said that I do not have team spirit. And if anyone has any idea how this touch lamp works I would love to hear it cause it just fascinates me. Comments Showing comments in chronological order [Show most recent comments first] |
