Saddened by Sandy's death

This entry isn't going to be very long. I just wanted to say that I was sad to here that Sandy Allen, the "World's Tallest Woman," has died at the age of 53.

The Associated Press reported that the cause of her death has not been determined but that she had been hospitalized in recent months.

I remember seeing her on TV from time to time when I was a child. I think the idea of a 7-foot-7 woman frightened me at the time, but when I grew up and saw her interviewed, she was a kind and gentle soul.

Imagine the challenges of being that tall. I'm sure she was the subject of a few jokes in her time. But I'm sure she was a beautiful person on the inside.

The AP reported that services for Allen are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at Town and Country Church, 2133 S. Tucker Road, Shelbyville. Calling is 4-8 p.m. Sunday and 9-10 a.m. Monday at the church.

Memorial contributions can be made to the "Sandy Allen Scholarship Fund," being handled by the Blue River Community Foundation at 54 W. Broadway, Shelbyville, IN, 46176.

God bless you Sandy.

I agree. She turned a negative or difficult situation into a positive one. May she rest in peace.
