Still smokin'? Williams ready to set the NFL ablaze once again.
It's a great day for the NFL! Ricky Williams is on his way back -- well maybe not just yet.
After being kicked out of the league for multiple positive drug results, Williams applied for reinstatement yesterday and his agent says the former superstar runner is in top form.
"Ricky is extremely excited about the prospect of playing in the NFL again and hopeful for a positive response," his agent said.
I bet Ricky's praying for anything but a positive response. He already had one in May to delay his return.
Ricky retired from the league in 2004 and said it was the most positive thing he has ever done in his life -- all except those three previous positive weed results I guess.
Since his departure, he has studied Ayurveda and converted to Hinduism. Time they are a-changing and so is Ricky.
I've been a huge Ricky Williams fan since he came into the league and still think the Colts would have been better off taking him than the horizontal hustler, better known as Edgerrin James. I tend to like my tailbacks to run straight ahead, not side to side.
I don't agree with Williams' favorite pastime and I hope he has put it behind him, but I think the league would be no worse off if Ricky came back into it. Look at the Bengals for goodness sakes!
Ray Lewis might have had played a part in stabbing somebody and the same year, after he was on trial, he was voted Super Bowl XXXV MVP and received Defensive Player of the Year honors.
GIVE RICKY A SECOND… I MEAN THIRD… I… just give him another chance.
If all goes well we will see No. 34 thundering down the sidelines scoring a touchdown for any team besides the Dolphins.
I just hope this most recent attempt to get back into the league doesn't go up in smoke.
