My Brody moment
A Brody moment? I know that's what most of you are thinking, so let me clear things up right from the beginning.
As most of you know, I'm a movie nut. I love all types of flicks, spanning all genres. One of my favorite films of all time is Jaws. I saw it when I was very young and it ranks second in times viewed only to the Star Wars saga.
If you recall, Roy Scheider's character was Police Chief Martin Brody. There's a scene in the film, after a shark attack, where Brody is sitting at his kitchen table with his wife in the background and youngest son at the table with him. As the scene progresses, he notices that his son is mimicking his every motion. After making a funny face that his son copies, he leans in and says, " Give us a kiss." The son asks why and Brody responds, "Because I need it."
Sitting in White Castle this past Saturday, I had that moment. I tend to fidget with my hands and while I was sitting at a table with my oldest daughter, it happened. Every motion I made with my hands, she copied. I continued to change what I was doing and she followed suit every time.
Finally, never one to pass up a moment of geekdom, I bent down and said, "Give us a kiss", to which she responded with a nice, sloppy ketchup kiss on my check.
Jaws, White Castles and ketchup kisses -- it just doesn't get any better than that.
