Happy Birthday, Matilda

Having just celebrated my oldest daughter's third birthday, it dawned on me of another little one's birthday.

When I did the research for my Marquee article on Heath Ledger, I noticed his daughter Matilda was the same age as my oldest and celebrated her birthday just nine days later on Oct. 28; her first since Ledger's death in January.

I watched A Knight's Tale the other night and I still find it hard to believe we'll never see any movies from this talented actor again. Granted he has one more film coming out that he was working on at the time of his death, but that's where the camera fades.

Having a daughter of the same age and seeing the magnificent things she' doing right now, it makes my heart break every time I read a story about Matilda. My oldest daughter and I are a lot alike (she's a Daddy's girl!) and a lot of the images shown of Ledger and his daughter remind me of the things she and I do. The walks, the looks, the laughs -- my kid's the coolest. I also have another little one that's doing some pretty cool stuff too!

Happy Birthday, Matilda. Hope your days are filled with laughter and light.
