A call to change

Posted Monday, March 22, 2010, at 11:06 AM

Most of my blogs are aimed at the entertainment industry or writing to be just plain entertaining. Every now and then I'll slip in something serious and that's going to be the case with this blog.

Earlier this week I went to the doc and was given the diagnosis of high blood pressure. To say I was freaked (and still am) would be the understatement of the year. It was a little high and the doctor thought it would be better to be a handle on it sooner than later.

I had already cut out caffeine and began to eat less, so I had already begun the steps to improve my health. Now I have to take a little blue pill in the morning and my week has been filled with anxiety.

My week would have been much worse if not for my family and friends, especially my wife. She has been wonderful, listening to me go on and on about everything and just smiling back with reassuring words. I know it hasn't been the easiest week for her either dealing with me, so here's a little something I want to send her way along with my daughters.

You guys mean the world to me. Each of you have been wonderful this week and it has made a big difference. I know that I'm still having a lot of anxiety about taking the medication, but when I get kisses from each of my girls, it eases my tension at least for a little while. I love each and every one of you and not a moment goes by when you aren't on my mind. Thanks for being there for me this week and being so patient.

It definitely is no fun to be diagnosed with high blood pressure....this is from someone 'who has been there, done that'.....just a little tip to fight the 'demon'....you can bring your BP down with RELAXING..starting at the top of your head slowly relax..let every muscle of your body RELAX ..to the tip of your toes. breath in through your nose and out through your mouth SLOWLY....do this for about 5 minutes...it can be done anywhere, in bed, driving, at the theater, etc. Done correctly this can lower your BP ...I have brought mine down from 180/110 to 120/72.

this relaxing is especially helpful when taking your BP...be sure to follow directions with your BP equipment, ...cuff should be heart level.

You can live happily with hi BP...God bless and

have a Happy Easter.
