James needs to live up to his title
Isn't nice to see a superstar flounder? I know that sounds terrible, but for some reason I've had my fill of LeBron James. You know, the proclaimed 'Chosen One' of the NBA. But has he earned the right to that title yet?
In a word -- no.
LeBron is supposed to be the NBA's most prolific player and is constantly measured up to the legendary Michael Jordan and so far, he's failed to deliver.
There's no questioning the man's talent, but what the heck happened in game five against the Celtics? A whopping blowout where Boston held the superstar to 15 points in such a lackadaisical offensive effort it would have embarrassed a middle school coach.
In my opinion, King James needs to show he has the desire. That's what made Jordan Jordan and the Bulls the Bulldog they were during his reign. James never showed up on Tuesday and now his team is just one little loss away from calling it a season.
If he is the 'Chosen One', we shouldn't be watching his team stagger and stumble.
And of course, now the discussion is going to inevitably go to whether or not James will stay in Cleveland. Most people think if the team doesn't take home the championship this season, James will be headed out of town. In reality, the opposite should happen.
If the Cavs are unable to pull of a championship season, James owes it to the Cleveland fanbase to stay put. They stood by him for six seasons and he's delivered nothing but a highlight reel. Many players can do that, but few have what it takes to win championships. Maybe James doesn't have it in his DNA.
With Game 6 in Boston looming tonight, LeBron will have to show his mettle and will his team to a victory and ultimately the series win.
Basketball is a team sport, but it takes that central character to lead it and if Tuesday was any indication, LeBron doesn't have what it takes.
