So long, Kid
Another sign that my age is rapidly increasing was tonight when I zoomed over to ESPN.com and found that Seattle Mariners outfielder Ken Griffey Jr. had called it a career.
I thought to myself 'That's good, walk away from the game in your mid-30s and have a great life'. Then as I continued to read the article, it stated that Griffey was in fact 40 years old. Then it dawned on me -- I'm in my mid-30s and to say that was kind of a shocker would be an understatement.
Now, before the people more advanced in age begin to call for my head, I'm just saying it's amazing how life races by without you knowing it.
With all the graduations happening, it's hard for me to fathom that my high school career ended 15 years ago. It seems like just yesterday that I was with my friends roaming the halls, but alas, while the memories still linger, the actual time continues to fade away.
So, thank you, Ken Griffey Jr., for some great baseball memories and reminding me just how quickly age has caught up with me.
Now back in my day....
