Eastbound and down

By 5:05 a.m. tomorrow (Friday), I will officially be on my way to South Carolina for a little getaway. And yes, I have a huge smile on my face as I'm typing this.

Since a vacation isn't an every year sort of a thing for me, I forget all the prep that goes into it. And the last time I took some time off, I only had a six-month old daughter. Now I have two and they are not the best travelers.

Enter the portable DVD player.

We did a test run a few weeks ago to see how it would go and it went beautifully. A few tense moments as the menus loaded, but once the feature began -- silence -- not a peep. I've never loved Spongebob so much.

Plus, all the prep to get things in order to leave is insane. Get someone to housesit, take care of the mail and make sure the toothbrush isn't left behind. Now that everything's in order and all that's left is to get on the road.
