He's baaaaack... again
It's my favorite time of August. You know, the time when Brett Favre determines training camp is over and can announce he's not retiring after all. Even being a fan, it makes me smile that the decision is almost always made following camp.
Oh well, the man is back and I'm ready for some football. But, even though he's back and I'm excited, I have to say a few of his comments I found to be concerning.
Saying he did it as a favor doesn't help with people's impression of you being a diva, Brett. Sure, most of us know you mean you're doing it for the boys in the locker room, but it makes it sound like you're helping the state of Minnesota out of some catastrophe. Not cool.
For the first time since being a fan of Favre's, I'm not sure how long he's going to last. It's not a matter of his body holding out -- now I'm concerned with his heart.
In the press conference Wednesday Favre sounded like a man who didn't want to be where he was. It sounded more like I'm here for the guys, I think I can make it and we'll see what happens. What happened to promises of Super Bowls, division and conference dominance? I guess those are sooo last year.
While I'll be watching every game this season, I'll be keeping my eye on No. 4 a little more closely than before. He's never let me down in many NFL seasons, but I've got a suspicion heartbreak could be lurking up Minneapolis way.
I hope I'm wrong.
