Movies, movies and more movies
With the year coming to a close, it's the time from studios to push their films for awards season. Key to awards season is getting recognition from critic groups.
I'm a member of the Indiana Film Journalist Association, a group of Indiana journalist dedicated to promoting quality film criticism in the Hoosier State, and we recently announced our year-end awards. Which essentially means I've been watching movies every free chance I get and my mind is still trying to catch up.
Last year we received a few screenings leading up to our award selections, but this year was amazing. We had multiple screenings, received screener DVDs and other items from studios promoting their films. To say I was surprised by what we received would be an understatement.
The great thing about awards season is studios roll out there best and brightest, unfortunately we all have to wait until the end of the year to get our treats -- much like Christmas. And this year we received some nice goodies under our trees.
I will announce my 2010 Top 10 list next Thursday so I'm not going to go into too much detail about specifics, but there have been some amazing films this year. Some you've heard of and some you haven't, so you need to check out my Top 10.
I list a few of my favorite flicks of the year
127 Hours
Never Let Me Go
Blue Valentine
The King's Speech
Now I want to hear from you. What have you seen that blew your socks off?
I usually ask for some feedback and it never comes, so I'm going to make this worth your while. The person who gives me their favorite film and best describes why it is their favorite will win a copy of Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.
I don't what simple 'It was cool' or 'I loved the way the cinematographer captured...'. I want real reactions from real people. If you don't have a movie you loved, tell me a movie you hated or a movie you thought was overrated (I have a few).
Here's the kicker. I need to have at least five people respond for the DVD to be up for grabs. So tell your friends, your co-workers, your Grammy -- who ever you need to tell to get five people to respond to have a chance at a shinny new DVD.
You have until Tuesday to get your responses in.
