Time to end the Pro Bowl
I like watching all-stars as much as the next person, but what I watched during this year's NFL Pro Bowl was in a word -- pathetic. I'm all for having a great time and taking it easy after the season has ended, but if you're going to play the game -- play the game.
After watching the latest installment of the Pro Bowl, I'm all for doing away with it. Continue to name the players each year, but do away with the game or give us a skills challenge, something we can at least enjoy. Sure, there were some fine, even spectacular, plays in the Pro Bowl, but for the most part it was a bust.
I do not need to watch the 15th alternate playing because everyone else has decided to not participate. And to address that, I think if you back out of the Pro Bowl, you should lose the distinction. It may sound tough, but too many guys decide not to play for no reason at all. I don't have an issue with a player recovering from an injury sitting out, but it needs to be legit.
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers even called out his fellow NFC teammates for not giving it their all. When a guy who more than likely will be named the league's MVP is willing to go out there and give it his all, why isn't everyone? Logical question if you ask me.
After watching this year's game, I've decided it will be my last. If I want to enjoy some football with zero defense and an inflated score, I'll just flip Madden to rookie level and have a grand time in the comfort of my living room.
