I'm at the Super Bowl!
I just arrived at Lucas Oil Stadium and made it to my seat. Second row from the top of Lucas Oil Stadium. Actually not too bad. I'll update as the day progresses.
4:55 p.m.
It's starting to get busy. Seats are filling up and walking around is not as easy as it was. Listening to Michael Irvin predict the Giants will win the game. I agree, but Tom Brady is a scary, scary man. Teams will be taking the field for warm-ups in a few.
6:07 p.m.
The boos are loud for Tom Brady as he's introduced on the big screen. Giants are entering right now. Place is rocking, with flashes lighting the stadium. The Patriots are rolling out to "Crazy Train". But it's hard to hear with all the boos.
6:16 p.m.
Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert sing a great version of "America the Beautiful". Then Kelly Clarkson proceeds to top them with her "Star-Spangled Banner". Very nice way to start the Super Bowl.
6:26 p.m.
Patriots win the toss, defer to Giants. Let's get this thing going!
6:30 p.m.
KICKOFF!
6:41 p.m.
Not a good way for Brady and company to start. Flagged for intention grounding in endzone and that my friend's is a safety. Giants are on the board. Giants 2 Patriots 0.
6:51 p.m.
TOUCHDOWN Giants. Manning to Cruz. Giants up 9-0. Looks like this could get ugly if the Pats don't put something together.
7:05 p.m.
New England 29-yard Field Goal is good. The score is 9-3 Giants. Rob Lowe is on the big screen. No Peyton Manning by Sodapop Curtis, just an intro for best TDs from Giants this season. Really wish they were playing Super Bowl commercials. The Ferris Bueller/Matthew Broderick commercial is brilliant.
What are the best commercials you've seen so far? I need updates!
7:47 p.m.
TOUCHDOWN Patriots. Brady to Woodhead 4-yard pass. 10-9 Patriots. Eight seconds before the half.
Just when you think the Patriots are dead and gone, they strike and go in front.
7:50 p.m.
Manning takes a knee and it's halftime. Patriots 10 Giants 9. Now I get to spend the next 31 minutes avoiding listening to Madonna. The lights are out for halftime performance. Everyone has LED flashlights and it looks pretty amazing.
The halftime show was pretty cool. I'm not a Madonna fan, but the stage was amazing and the sound was great.
Second Half
Patriots get the ball and are marching down the field.
8:28 p.m.
TOUCHDOWN Patriots. Brady to Hernandez. Patriots up 17-9.
That was fast. The Giants don't want to let Brady get going or it could be a very long night in Indy.
8:38 p.m.
FIELD GOAL Giants. Patriots lead 17-12. The Patriots defense is started to heat up. Big hits on that drive. New York needs to go long and stop throwing short ones underneath.
8:52 p.m.
They keep showing celebs on the big screen. It's easy to forget how big this game is when you're watching it. Even though it's the Super Bowl, once the plays start flowing, it feels just another football game -- but with a very big trophy awaiting for the winner.
8:56 p.m.
FIELD GOAL Giants. Patriots lead 17-15 and New York has the momentum once again.
8:59 p.m.
One quarter left in the Super Bowl. Enjoy these final 15 minutes. It's all the pro football we have left this season.
9:03 p.m.
Interception by Tom Brady. Momentum is back with the Giants. A long drive and score here is what Eli needs if he wants to add a second Super Bowl win to his name. If he wins two, does that move him in front of his brother? It's definitely debatable.
9:31 p.m.
Giants are going to get another chance. 3:53 left in the game and the Pats are punting. chant of "Let's go Giants!" is echoing in here.
9:33 p.m.
What a catch by Mario Manningham. Play is challenged, but the feet are down. First and 10 Giants! Ref just announced play stands and the crowd is going nuts.
The music is so loud in here I feel like George McFly when "Darth Vader" comes to visit him in "Back to the Future."
9:39 p.m.
Giants are within field goal range with 2 minutes left. Down 17-15. I feel some Manning heroics is in the works.
9:43 p.m.
TOUCHDOWN Giants with less than a minute to go. Giant go up 21-17. The Pats will have to score a touchdown.
Eli Manning is an assassin. It's the only way to explain how cool under pressure he is. That or he's a ninja. Either way, it's cool.
9:49 p.m.
"Down goes Brady". Fourth and 16 for the Pats with :39 left.
9:50 p.m.
BRady to Branch for a first down. The Pats are done just yet.
9:54 p.m.
The New York Giants are the Super Bowl champs! Giants 21 Patriots 17.
