Dodged a bullet there

Posted Tuesday, January 11, 2011, at 9:32 AM

So it appears my Karmic punishment for spending the year cheering for my favorite team's first round opponent was just nearly having a heart attack, not an actual loss.

God bless you, Tramon Williams.

As a non-Colts fan living in central Indiana, I sometimes like to talk smack, but I have nothing to say this week. Without an underrated cornerback outleaping the wideout there, the boys from Green Bay suffer the same fate as Indy: a last-second punch in the gut loss.

I feel for you, Colts fans. I really do. That's no way to go out.

I also had to eat some humble pie over the weekend, going 1-3 on my weekend picks and also losing one of my Super Bowl picks. (Seahawks over Saints?!? Really?) My lesson is, in the coming weeks, not to pick multiple rounds. One weekend at a time.

So here are my Division Round picks, which are all sure to fail:

Steelers 16, Ravens 13
Flip a coin for this one. What a fun matchup. Look for hard hits, hard hits and more hard hits. Ultimately, I don't think Baltimore has enough downfield threats to win this one.

Falcons 19, Green Bay 17
I just don't pick my team. It's a superstition. I honestly have no idea what's going to happen in this one. I am freaking out, of course.

Bears 20, Seahawks 13
The difference in this one? The Seahawks were a 7-9 team in the regular season. The Bears only looked like a 7-9 team. They'll win in spite of a couple of Cutler INTs.

New England 33, New York Jets 24
I don't think the Pats can possibly embarrass the Jets the way they did last month, but the Jets have angered them all the same.
I hate it when people anger the Patriots.

Those are my picks. As a fan, I'd like to see three of these four games go the other way. If I go 4-0, I'll feel smart but unhappy come Monday.

But I never go 4-0.
