I'll think about it in the morning
I got a call from my mother-in-law earlier asking me what the weather was doing here. I think it shocked her when I told her the truth: I really didn't know.
I mean, I was aware of the forecast -- sleet, freezing rain, ice tomorrow. (By the way, I've really never figured out the difference between sleet, freezing rain and ice.) I also know we're under a winter weather advisory for an astounding 48 hours.
But as to what it was doing right then, I wasn't totally clear. I was busy doing some chores around the house, watching my son and trying to stay quiet as my wife took a well-deserved nap. I had closed the curtains and wasn't thinking much about the weather.
When I wake up in the morning, I don't know what the weather will be. The thing is, I'll deal with it then. At this point, I don't really care.
Suffice it to say, my mother-in-law and I have different attitudes about the weather. However, neither of us has the power to do a thing about it.
Instead, here's my priority list for the night: Hold my son while he goes to sleep. Post this blog. Mix a drink. Watch some sports highlights. Go to bed.
I think I've chosen the right path.
