Hitchin' a ride
After a couple of years of feeding hummingbirds, we expanded our repertoire this year when Miles bought Nicole a bird feeder for Mother's Day.
And since then, we've had the joy of more birds to watch in our yard.
While I know I've seen some robins, some cardinals and a few finches (maybe), I'm still no expert at identifying our feathered friends.
With that in mind, I'm not sure what kind of bird is in this video. A pigeon, perhaps?
Regardless, the little guy flew right past my truck door as I was closing it Monday after lunch. He then landed on my hood.
As I backed out of the driveway, he didn't move. I sat there staring at him for a few seconds and then just decided to drive, assuming he would fly away.
He did not, however, fly away, and about the time I got to Greencastle High School (two blocks from my house) I decided I had something interesting on my hands and started recording. Thankfully I didn't wreck while pulling off this stupid, stupid task.
The bird stayed on board until we got to the parking lot here at the Banner Graphic office, flying away almost the instant I stopped record.
Also, thanks to Iggy Pop for the pertinent accompaniment.
