Tis' the season to go shoppingPosted Wednesday, November 23, 2011, at 11:14 AM
Thanksgiving is upon us and I for one cannot wait to get home to my family. In just two short hours I will be on the highway driving back to Chicago to not only spend some quality family time, but to see one of my favorite bands play, City and Colour.
Through the years Thanksgiving has become less and less exciting. It used to be a time where the entire family came together, but now a lot of us live in different parts of the country and are not able to make it back home. Thus making it just another family dinner, not Thanksgiving. Things I'm thankful for this year: my dog, friends, family, my new job and the Chicago Blackhawks. What I really look forward to with Thanksgiving, as do most girls, is Black Friday shopping. I've always been that crazy one out there at 4 a.m. grabbing everything they could get their hands on. Typically, I usually regret buying most of what I buy and it ends up going back. But, it is a thrill getting all those deals. Plus, in just one day I normally get all my Christmas shopping done. I've already begun making a game plan with one of my friends from home. We will be out there beginning at 11 p.m. and going into the early hours of Friday morning. My friend Jess and I really are like the woman on the Target commercials. Each year when those commercials appear we know it's time to get ready. Target is pure madness at 5 a.m., it's true you grab your cart and you pile as much stuff in as you can, even if you're on the edge and don't know if you really want it, chances are within ten minutes it will be gone. This year Target is opening up at midnight. My guess is even more people will be at Target due to the earlier opening making it that much more difficult. I however, will be forced to drive back to Greencastle afterwards having to cut my shopping time short. When I do make it back to Greencastle however, I get to decorate for Christmas. I've been in the Christmas spirit for what seems like ages. I have bought tons of decorations and will be getting my very own tree this year. Although, I'm the only one who will enjoy my handiwork, I'm very excited to see how everything will come together. How do you plan on spending your holiday? |
