Only a daydream away. . .

I have that restless feeling that comes when you find yourself needing an adventure or two to liven up your life. I don't have any planned and with my son heading off to college next week, I can't really afford to go to any of the places I would rather be. So, I'm sitting here picturing myself in completely different surroundings. With mountain peaks and the babble of a cold, clear stream lazily flowing down the mountainside. I'm seeing myself sitting in a comfy rocking chair on a delightful railed porch attached to a gorgeous log cabin (complete with an indoor Jacuzzi). I can smell lilacs in the air and there is a crispness beginning to creep in. (I know, I know those are two very different seasons but it is my daydream so I can have anything I want in it). On the back deck my husband is fixing steaks with baked potatoes and he brings me a perfectly stirred amaretto sour. He hands it to me with a smile and the quick brush of a kiss across my forehead. A soft breeze begins to blow as the sun slides behind the mountainside. I'm starting to feel that wonderfully relaxed sense you get at the end of a day spent hiking up and down heavily forested paths drinking in the beauty all around. I catch a fleeting glimpse of a few deer darting by and can hear the chatter of squirrels in the treetops. Then the phone at my desk rings and I am back to my reality. Still, I know that (to quote Scarlett)tomorrow is another day and my escape is only a daydream away. Comments Showing comments in chronological order [Show most recent comments first] |

In these hard times we didn't get to go any where this year. I day dreamed my vacation, it was a perfect one because I didn't have the traffic nightmares to deal with or the terrible odor coming from the back seat from the boys.
