Tis the season for the spooky, eerie and unusualPosted Monday, October 19, 2009, at 9:14 PM
Anyone who knows me is aware of my delight in the scary, spooky and unusual. Not blood and gore hacker stuff--just good scary fun.
I've been on a couple of paranormal investigations with a local group. I was hoping to get to go with them on an investigation of the County Home but county commissioners put the kibosh on that recently. But, there are still plenty of fun spooky things to do. Don't forget about the Heritage Preservation Society's Historic Haunted Cemetery Tours on Oct. 30 and 31 and their Midnight, Oct. 31 haunted walk of downtown Greencastle. Call me for details. This is the perfect time to make a trip to the Edna Collings Covered Bridge to see if anyone will get in the backseat of your car. There are also haunted hayrides and mazes. If you are up for a trip out of town, visit Gettysburg and go on a ghost walk, or Savannah, Chicago or Indianapolis. My favorite though is the New Orleans Vampire tour. If you are brave enough to visit the Waverly Sanitarium, ask to stay overnight--if you do it, you are much braver than me. Share your favorite haunts with us. |
Maribeth Ward began working for a community newspaper right out of college. Within a few years she moved to marketing and spent most of her working life as a marketing manager. In 2006 she came back to her first love--writing.
She attended Indiana University and is the mother of three--identical twin daughters and a son. She is also the Nana of three wonderful grandchildren--Matt, Riley and Emma.
She and her husband Faril share their home with their cat Sunny and dog Roadie.
