Dose of Reality

Just in time for prom, South Putnam High School’s annual mock accident took place Tuesday afternoon in the high school parking lot. The Greencastle Police Department, Putnam County Sheriff’s Department, Operation Life, Reelsville Fire Department, Indiana State Police, Putnam County Coroner’s Office, St. Vincents StatFlight and Whitaker Funeral Home participated in the event, flying in a helicopter, cutting away the roof of a car and performing arrests as they would have in a real situation. Students later heard from speaker Keith Deltano, who warned students that turning down drugs and alcohol is better in the long run. Participating students were Logan Vandermark, Ally Nichols, Israel Polster, Dylan Wood, Chris Shafer, Caitlin Schilling, Sarah Danner, Andrew Ballard and Autumn Miller.
