Eagles Girls Basketball (01/06/06)
EMINENCE - In the amber waves of grain of the west central Indiana terrain, the back door of the Eminence High School gymnasium was wide open Thursday night. For the first 16 minutes of girls' varsity basketball game, Eminence made baseline cuts behind the South Putnam defense, converting easy buckets down low and taking a commanding 45-20 lead into halftime. The Greencastle girls' swim team swept a three-meet against North Montgomery and North Putnam Thursday. Greencastle compiled a team score of 322, followed by North Montgomery with 295 and North Putnam at 147. Leading the way for the Tiger Sharks senior Alys Moore and freshmen Kelsey Murtagh each won two events. Moore won the 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke, while Murtagh won the 100-yard backstroke and 100-yard butterfly...

Lucille (Kuehn) Evans, 89, Evansville, died Wednesday evening at her home. She attended Fulton Elementary and graduated from Central High School in 1934. She was a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ. Surviving are daughters Phyllis Riess, Galesburg, Ill., Paula Evans-Fornari and husband Chester, Greencas-tle, and Janie Vonderscher and husband Donald, Evansville; son Albert Evans and wife Regina, Evansville; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren...
