City engineer stepping down as of April 5

Greencastle City Engineer Glen Morrow announced recently that he will resign from his post on April 5 to take a position with a private engineering company. Morrow was appointed to the position of city engineer in 2000 by Greencastle Mayor Nancy Michael who also recently announced that she will not seek another term in office. Her term is set to expire at the end of the year...

Town looks at equipment buy

A loan for the new dump truck from Farmers State Bank and using a patching system to fix the potholes and the alligator cracks caught the attention of the Roachdale Town Council during its monthly meeting. Representatives from Farmers State Bank provided the council with a loan proposal for the purchase of the new dump truck. According to the proposal, the bank "will be able able to offer a rate of 4.50 percent" for this purchase...

Grants now available for youth projects

The Putnam County Community Foundation announces the availability of grants for groups of youth in Putnam County conducing charitable work. Grants can range in size from $50 to $500. Jan. 28, 1918-March 20, 2007 Robert D. Jones, 89, Greencastle, died Tuesday at his residence. He was born in Inman, Kan., and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired as a brick mason after 40 years, and was formerly of Fishers. Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Lillian Loraine Jones; son Bill Jones and wife Marlene, Noblesville; daughters Barbara Carrow and husband Larry, Fishers, Kaye Hanna and husband dave, Fishers, Evelyn Penley and husband Vernon, Greencastle, and Pat Paris and husband Brian, Brownsburg; 17 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.. ...
