Coat drive kicks off Friday night (09/24/08)
Representatives of the local Coats for Kids drive are hoping to help keep a lot of children warm this winter. "Our goal for the ninth Annual Coats for Kids Campaign is to collect 500 coats for the youth of Putnam County," said Linda Merkel, program coordinator. "In an effort to jump start this year's program, South Putnam and Cloverdale High Schools have agreed to participate by accepting donations prior to the start of the football game on Friday."...
Senior Health Fair Oct. 7 (09/24/08)
The 2008 Putnam County Senior Health Fair is set for Tuesday, Oct. 7 at the Putnam County Fairgrounds Community Building from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The annual event draws a large crowd of senior citizens every year. Flu and pneumonia shots will be available from the Visiting Nurse Service. Individuals with Medicare Part B as their primary insurance must bring their card to get a shot at no cost. For others, the cost is $25 for flu shots and $40 for pneumonia shots...
Longtime Mary Allison Board member retires (09/24/08)
No one can say for sure how long Jim Poor has been a board member for the Mary Allison Trust Fund. "Nobody really knows how many years he served, but it is over 40," said Jim Jackson, board president. To the Editor: I live in Cloverdale, and today I made a trip to Greencastle to shop at Wal-Mart. I had a half-tank of gas in my car when I drove past McClure's at noon, and saw that the gas price for regular was $3.53. I decided that I would fill up on my way home...
