"The Great Pumpkin Decorating Contest" was held Thursday at Robe-Ann Park. Sponsored by the Greencastle Parks and Recreation Department for the second year, and in cooperation with the Putnam County Public Library, the contest had 10 entries in three age groups. All were invited to bring their best, scariest, funniest or best carved, painted or decorated pumpkins to be judged in six age groups. There were two entries in the 1-5 year old age group, six entries in the 6-11 year old age group and two entries in the 18-60 years old age group. Pictured above are Justice Nauman, Trysta Nauman, Tristin Nauman, Shelby Paxton, Tanner Smithers, Payton Brown, Gage Bolton, and Trystan Smithers. Not pictured are Patty Sprinkle and Jessica Cole. On Friday, throngs of ghouls, superheroes, princesses and fairies descended on the square in downtown Greencastle for some trick or treat action in preparation for Halloween. Sectional fever heats up

Parents, students and fans from North Putnam and Greencastle spent the week getting ready for sectional semifinals on Friday night. North Putnam parents marked the path from the stoplight in Bainbridge to the entrance of the football field with Cougar tracks as well as signs. Above, North Putnam parents Jodi Judy and Tara Angermeier place a sign next to the road on CR 200E north of Bainbridge. The Cougars and the Tiger Cubs won on Friday. Greencastle will visit North Putnam for the Sectional 30 championship at 7 p.m. Friday.
