National survey gives high marks to 'DePauw experience'

The song "Gloria" is one of several songs to be performed by the Russellville Community Christmas Choir during the 10th annual Christmas concert at the Russellville Community Center. Under the direction of Jamie France, this year's "Gift of Christmas" concert will feature the 80-member adult choir, a 50-member children's choir, soloists and Visions of Praise, a sign language praise team. Shows begin today at 7 p.m. and will continue on Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 1:30 p.m. The public is encouraged to attend, and the event will feature a pre-concert dinner at 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and noon on Sunday. Admission to the concert is free.

The 2011 recipient of the Putnam County Friend of Extension Award, Bonnie Bryan (left), accepts the honor Tuesday night from Extension Board President Kate Skirvin. The Friend of Extension Award was presented during the Putnam County Extension annual meeting. Bryan is the ninth recipient of the local award. Previous winners have been: Dale Cantonwine, 2010; Geneva Dorris, 2009; Dale and Sandy Jessup, 2008; Rodger Winger, 2007; John Rosich, 2006; Shirley Ruark, 2005; Noble and Edith Fry, 2004; and Jim and Pat Sheldon, 2003.
