PUTNAMVILLE -- Just a couple of inches of new-fallen snow turned Valentine's Day into anything but a sweetheart of a time to be driving anywhere in Putnam County. Hazel Marie Stevens, 91, passed away on Feb. 12, 2016 at Asbury Towers Retirement Community. She was born March 16, 1924 in Hazard, Ky. to Rosa Stamper Turner and Willie Turner. Edwin Gene Coffman, 85, of Greencastle, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016. Born Aug. 9, 1930 in Hammond, he was the son of Rollie and Hazel (Freeman) Coffman. Gene was a United States Army veteran having served in the Korean War. Gene had worked at Lonestar Cement for 43 years, retiring in 1993.
