First COVID-19 death in Putnam County confirmed

Putnam County Health Department (PCHD) on Wednesday confirmed the first death related to coronavirus (COVID-19) of a Putnam County resident. The adult from Putnam County passed away at an outlying facility on Wednesday morning. The person, who was over age 60, had been hospitalized as COVID-19 patient and also suffered from underlying medical conditions. Putnam County Hospital has launched a community hotline to offer individuals in Putnam County a Coronavirus (COVID-19) hotline. Effective Thursday, March 26, all patients calling the hospital with questions or concerns about COVID-19 will be able to talk with a healthcare professional at one of our primary care practices. Volunteers of all ages are invited to help remove invasive plants on the Tzouanakis Intermediate School campus on Saturday, March 28, from 10 a.m. to noon. Rain date is Sunday from 3-5 p.m. The Weed Wrangle will be an open-air event where small teams spread out around the nature trail north of Tzouanakis to take out invaders.
