Putnam County Jail

Two people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* Robert Fisher, 36, Greencastle, was booked in at 8:22 p.m. Wednesday for driving while suspended. He was arrested at PCJ.

* John Devee Sanders, 25, Greencastle, was booked in at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday for battery by body waste, public intoxication, disorderly conduct and resisting law enforcement. He was arrested by Deputy Josh Boller.

Sheriff's Dept.

Two accident were investigated recently by the Putnam County Sheriff's Dept.

At 12:23 a.m. Wednesday, a vehicle hit a tree head-on, but the driver fled the scene.

Sgt. Tom Helmer reported that a 1988 Oldsmobile, registered to M. Shane Witt, Fillmore, was found in a 90-degree curve at CR 600 East and CR 575 North. Evidence at the scene showed that the driver braked, but the vehicle slid off the road into the tree. The vehicle also may have had a passenger, Helmer reported, but no one was found at the scene.

Damage was estimated at $2,500-$5,000.

At 5:42 a.m. Tuesday, a two vehicles collided at U.S. 36 and CR 25 West.

Helmer reported that a 1988 Ford Mustang driven by Tanya R. Stacy, 44, 2021 VanBibber Lake, Greencastle, was driving north and stopped at the intersection. Her car was followed by a 1997 Ford driven by Timmy L. Vandagrifft, 52, 2032 VanBibber, Greencastle.

Vandagrifft said he saw Stacy start to pull out on the road, so he also started to turn but his vehicle collided with the rear of the Stacy car when she stopped.

Stacy complained of back pain and was taken to Putnam County Hospital via PMH Ambulance.

No damage was reported.

Greencastle Fire Dept.

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to three recent runs.

On Monday:

* At 1:21 p.m., firefighters went to 8 E. Walnut for a car fire. They returned to the station at 1:44 p.m.

On Tuesday:

* At 6:45 a.m., firefighters assisted a medical patient at 1012 Avenue D. They returned to the station at 6:53 a.m.
