Betty Hedge

Betty J. Hedge, 79, Reelsville, died Friday at Seton Hospital, Indianapolis, after an extended illness.

Born in Putnam County, she was the daughter of Issac and Mary (Hinote) Skelton.

A lifelong resident of Putnam County, she graduated from Reelsville High School in 1945 and was a long-time employee of First Citizen's Bank in Greencastle.

She married Clyde Hedge on Aug. 12, 1950. He preceded her in death.

She and her husband were farmers in Washington Township, raising purebred Polled Hereford Cattle. She continued to farm after her husband's death with the assistance of friends, neighbors and area youth.

Survivors include a nephew and several great-great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Ruth G. Lewis, Helen M. Skelton and Mary K. Skelton, and brother Issac Skelton Jr.

Services will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Rev. Paul Bowen officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.

Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
