Paul Jackson

Paul G. Jackson, 83, Brazil, died Sunday following an extended illness.

Born in Brazil, he was the son of Walter H. and Glenna Florence (Butts) Jackson.

He entered the U.S. Army in February 1943 and served in Normandy during World War II, returning home in October 1945. He worked at the Brazil Police Dept. for 20 years, serving as chief under Mayor Jenkins. He also worked at Alcan Aluminum as a material handler. He was a member of Carbon Baptist Church, had attended First Baptist Church for many years, and was a member of VFW Post 2.

On Oct. 17, 1947 he married Margaret Rissler at the First Baptist Church in Greencastle. She survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Paula Spencer and husband John, Kansas City, Mo.; sons Tom Jackson and wife Bette Jo, Golden Mo., and Roger Jackson and wife Angela, Springfield, Ill.; sister Dorothy Ford and husband Hank, Roachdale, and several grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter Glenna Kay, siblings Harlan Jackson, Gladys McDonald and Bernard Jackson.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at LawsonÐ Miller Chapel at Brazil. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and 7:30 a.m. until time of service Wednesday.
