Thursday, June 14, 2007

Auditions for "The Fantasticks," the longest running musical ever, will be conducted at the Putnam County Playhouse Sunday at 3 p.m. and Monday at 7 p.m.

The play, directed by Ernie Ford, will be produced at the Hazel Day Longden Theatre Aug. 9-12 and 15-18.

Roles to be cast include The Narrator, a strong singer; the boy and girl, in their late teens or 20s; two parents, ages 40-50; and three characters who are traveling entertainers, including one mute.

All those auditioning should prepare a song. There will be a short dance session and readings from the script, but the dance sessions will be Monday night.

Middle-school and high-school age performers can also pick up an application for "Shakespeared," a two-week workshop on theatre that will be conducted by Tim and Caroline Good at PCPH from June 18-30. The workshop is free and will include a production of two versions of William Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet." The workshop is being partially funded by the Putnam County Community Foundation.

Additional information about the auditions and the workshop can be found at the website www.putnam countyplayhouse.com
