Greencastle Police

Greencastle police recently investigated one accident and issued four tickets.

*At 1:06 p.m. Wednesday, a pick-up truck backed into a parked vehicle.

Officer Michael Collins reported that Brent D. Robinson, 41, Greencastle, was backing up his 1993 Chevy pickup truck on Glenview Drive and believed he had enough room, but did not, resulting in a collision with an unattended, parked vehicle registered to Mary Cash, Fillmore.

Damage was estimated at $2,500-$5,000.

*At 3:25 p.m. Tuesday, Jacob Wright, 16, Greencastle, was cited on Avenue D for a front seatbelt violation.

*At 10:20 p.m. Tuesday, Kenneth Manning, 20, Greencastle, was cited on North Jackson Street for throwing burning material from his vehicle.

*At 2:13 p.m. Thursday, Shelby Reed, 18, Roachdale, was cited on Indianapolis Road for operating without financial responsibility.

*At 3:50 p.m. Thursday, Ryan S. Puett, 19, Greencastle, was cited on Martinsville Street for driving with an expired license plate.

Putnam County Jail

Several people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* Erik David Wilburn, 20, Fillmore, was booked in at 3:02 p.m. Wednesday for violation of probation. He was arrested at PCJ.

* Matthew T. Cherry, 18, Danville, was booked in at 3:32 p.m. Wednesday for driving while intoxicated and possession of alcohol by a minor. He was arrested by Deputy Ron Campbell.

* Hugh Allen Willey, 60, Cloverdale, was booked in at 4:40 p.m. Wednesday for driving while suspended or revoked with prior conviction. He was arrested by Cloverdale Officer Nathan Clary. He was released to the Rush County Sheriff's Dept. at 1 p.m. Thursday.

* Jenetta Kay Dykes, 22, Brazil, was booked in at 10:52 p.m. Wednesday for conversion. She was arrested by Fillmore Town Marshal Tom Helmer. She was transferred to another agency at 12:29 p.m. Thursday.

* Larry Wayne Ault, 27, Indianapolis, was booked in at 11:19 p.m. Wednesday on a petition to revoke probation. He was arrested at PCJ.

* Tricia Susan Goings, 21, Fillmore, was booked in at 12:14 a.m. Thursday for battery with bodily injury. She was arrested by Greencastle Officer Eric Vaughan.

Putnam County Jail

* Jeffrey Wayne Haines, 25, Cloverdale, was booked in at 11:24 p.m. Thursday for possession of marijuana. He was arrested by ISP Trooper Adam Edwards. He was released on $500 bond at 3:23 a.m. Friday.

* Alisha Diana Cramer, 25, Indianapolis, was booked in at 3:34 a.m. Friday for driving while intoxicated, public intoxication and driving while suspended. He was arrested by Greencastle Officer Charles Inman.

Sheriff's Dept.

The Putnam County Sheriff's Department investigated several recent accidents.

* At 12:45 p.m. Monday, a car hit a hole in a construction zone on U.S. 36 near CR 700 West.

Sheriff's Deputy Ron Campbell reported that Arthur M. Davis, Greenwood, driving a 2003 Toyota, failed to see the signs for a construction zone and wasn't able to stop before driving into a hole in the road.

Damage was estimated at $1,000-2,500.

At the same accident, Les Terpstra, Seymour, was approaching from behind in his 2002 Dodge 3500 truck and could not stop in time before striking the back of Davis' trailer.

Damage was estimated at $2,500-5,000.

* At 5:46 p.m. Tuesday, a car lost control and left the roadway on CR 175 North near Albin Pond Road.

Deputy Josh Boller reported that Christopher Collins, Bloomington, driving a 1999 Dodge Intrepid, was traveling on CR 175 North when his vehicle left the roadway and went into a resident's yard, then turned the corner and struck a tree.

Damage was estimated at $1,000-2,500.

* At 7:37 a.m. Tuesday, a car drove off the road on CR 775 East at CR 600 North.

Deputy Ron Campbell reported that upon arrival, he found the driver of a 2003 Hyundai had gone off the road and was intoxicated. The driver, Matthew Cherry, was arrested at the scene.

Damage was estimated at $1,000-2,500.

* At 5:41 p.m. Wednesday, three cars collided on U.S. 231 near CR 25 South.

Deputy Craig Sibbitt reported that Pamela Bowman, Greencastle, driving a 2006 Chevrolet SCI truck, was stopped in traffic at the intersection of CR 25 South and a 2004 Pontiac GTP, driven by John R. Dresbach, Greencastle, was stopped behind her. Then, Dresbach was hit from behind by a 2006 Chevrolet Impala, driven by Tammy L. King, Greencastle, forcing his vehicle to strike Bowman's vehicle. Operation Life was called to examine a child passenger who was determined not to be injured.

Damage was estimated at $5,000-10,000.

Greencastle Fire Dept.

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to three recent runs.

On Thursday:

* At 5:29 a.m., firefighters were called to assist Reelsville Fire with a trailer fire at 3661 Indian Treaty Lane (Ivanwald). They provided personnel and an engine. They returned to the station at 8:35 a.m.

* At 9:30 a.m., firefighters were called to cover the Cloverdale Township fire station while firefighters there responded to a possible structure fire in Owen County. The fire turned out to be a controlled burn and GFD was disregarded en route. They were back in service at 9:37 a.m.

* At 12:27 p.m., firefighters responded to an accidental alarm at 800 S. Locust (Hogate Hall). They were disregarded en route and returned to the station at 12:32 p.m.
