Running sisters

Friday, July 6, 2007

Jill Price, Jodi Atkinson and Jami Billman, sisters formerly of Greencastle, participated in the 30th annual Narrow Gauge 10 mile and 5K run throughout the mountainous town of Durango, Colo., during the Memorial Day weekend. The race was part of the festivities of the 36th Annual Iron Horse Bicycle Classic, a 52-mile trek from Durango up the San Juan Mountains to Silverton (elevation 9,318 feet), a race against the Durango-Silverton steam engine train. Billman and her two brothers-in-law, Larry Price and Sherman Atkinson, raced along with more than 1,000 riders from all over the country. The two men also rode in the Criterium, a road race circling the downtown of Durango, in which Price came in second place in his age group. In 2005 and 2006, Price took first place in the Criterium. Next up for Price and Billman will be the Leadville, Colo., 100-mile mountain bike race on Aug. 11.
