Man dies in motorcycle crash Sunday

A Greencastle man died Sunday morning in a motorcycle crash near Mount Meridian.

Ronald B. Cash, 36, suffered multiple trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene on CR 525 East near U.S. 40.

Deputy Dwight Simmons of the Putnam County Sheriff's Department reported that Cash was driving a 2007 Yamaha motorcycle when he apparently failed to negotiate a curve and left the road on the east side, hitting a sign. He continued into a wooded area and struck several trees.

Cash was thrown from the motorcycle and was found near the vehicle in a ravine. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

There were two witnesses to the 12:04 a.m. crash.

Simmons was assisted at the scene by Deputy Rick Cooper, along with Fillmore and Jefferson Township volunteer firefighters, Operation Life ambulance personnel and Greencastle firefighters.

An autopsy is to be performed this week.
