Thomas J. Young Jr., 81, Cloverdale, died Sunday at IU Medical Center, Indianapolis.

Born in North Madison, he was the son of Thomas J. and Naomi M. (Hunter) Young Sr.

A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he had worked at the Ball Bros. Zinc Mill in Greencastle, and retired from DePauw University in 1987.

He married Edna Flo Williams on Aug. 24, 1945. She died April 8, 2005.

Surviving are daughter Thelma Jean Mason, Cloverdale; son Brian Young, Fillmore; brother William Young, Spring-field, Ohio; 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son Thomas Young, sisters Mary Roby and Kate Tucker, a grandchild and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Pastor Herman Gorham officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday.
