Greencastle Fire Dept.

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to two recent runs.

On Monday:

At 2:41 p.m., firefighters responded to an alarm due to construction dust at 414 S. Indiana. They returned to the station at 2:51 p.m.

On Tuesday:

At 7:51 a.m., firefighters responded to an alarm due to drywall dust at 801 S. Locust (Delta Gamma). They returned to the station at 7:59 a.m.

Putnam County Jail

Two people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

Donna Sue Wood, 37, no town available, was booked in at 1:45 p.m. Monday for failure to appear in court. She was released on $500 bond at 2:02 p.m. Monday.

Timothy Lee Clark, 31, DeGraff, Ohio, was booked in at 6:47p.m. Monday for non-support of a child and a petition to revoke probation. He was arrested at PCJ.

One accident was investigated at 9:08 p.m. Monday.

Deputy Josh Boller reported that Zach Hesler, 20, 1919 E. Rangeline Rd., Greencastle, was driving west in a 1996 GMC pickup truck when the vehicle blew a front right tire. The truck went off the road into a yard and hit a tree.

Damage was estimated at $1,000-$2,500.

City police

Two accidents were investigated Friday by Greencastle police.

At 10:12 a.m., a two-vehicle accident occurred at Bloomington and Broadway Streets.

Asst. Chief Brian Hopkins reported that Mischa Serlin, 17, Greencastle, was driving a 1999 Honda Accord south on Bloomington Street. Serlin said he did not see a 2004 Hyundai driven by Valerie Smith, 44, Vacaville, Calif., stopped at a red light and her car was rearended. Both Smith and her passenger, Claudia Fuller, Crawfordsville, complained of head and neck pain.

Damage was estimated at $1,000 - $2,500.

Hopkins was assisted by Chief Thomas Sutherlin and Det. Michael Collins.

At 12:13 p.m., a two-vehicle accident occurred at Bloomington Street and Veterans Memorial Highway.

Office Christopher Helmer reported that Tracy McCallie, 37, Cloverdale, was driving a 2002 Pontiac Montana that was stopped northbound at the stop light at the intersection. John Byrd, 69, Greencastle, was driving a 1989 GMC that tried to drive around McCallie

s vehicle to enter the turn lane. There was not enough room and Byrd

s vehicle struck McCallie

s vehicle on the rear driver

s side.

As the officer arrived at the scene, Byrd got out of his vehicle, which had been left in reverse, and he was then dragged by the vehicle as it almost hit the officer

s car. Byrd

s vehicle then hit a utility pole, leaving a dent in the back bumper.

Damage was estimated at $1,000 - $2,500.

Meanwhile, two tickets were issued on Sunday.

At 7:20 p.m., Jaren Wooten, 22, Franklin, was cited on Ind. 240 or driving 63mph in a 40-mph zone. He was cited by Officer Travis DeLaGrange.

At 7:55 p.m., Derrick Grimes, 16, Greencastle, was cited on Bloomington Street for nonrestraint of a child between the ages of 8 and 16. He was cited by Officer Travis DeLaGrange.
