Toddler airlifted; cause of injuries unconfirmed

By ADAM COATES, Assistant Editor

Putnam County medics rushed to a home off of Houck Road on Greencastle's North Side Tuesday afternoon for a 2-year-old child who was not breathing.

Reports that the child was the victim of a near drowning were not confirmed as of press time.

Greencastle resident Jerett Query lives near where where the 911 call was reported at 2:12 p.m. and rushed to the home on Golden Court to offer his assistance. Query is a paramedic for Operation Life but was not on duty Tuesday afternoon.

When he arrived at the home, Query saw a small child at the front door. The child told him to go to the back of the house and to "hurry."

When Query arrived, he observed his friend, Justin Homler, along with two women trying to revive a small girl, lying on the ground, who appeared to be unconscious and was not breathing. He said the girl was wearing a bathing suit and was wet.

Query took over for his friend and tried to revive the girl. A short time later, an ambulance arrived and rushed the girl to Putnam County Hospital.

Query told the BannerGraphic Wednesday morning that the girl was airlifted to Methodist Hospital. As of presstime, the name of the child was not released.
